My approach to counselling is based on providing you with the time and space for you to share and explore whatever is troubling you in a confidential setting. Whether you have a specific concern such as a problem at work or a relationship difficulty, or a more general issue that is affecting your life at the moment such as stress or anxiety, then we can work together to help you find your way of coping with the situation better.
Although I use aspects of various types of counselling which I have found to be effective in my work, I am primarily a Gestalt counsellor. Gestalt is a counselling approach that takes account of the whole person. Everything is seen as of importance. The focus is on your thoughts, feelings and sensations. However the whole approach is interactive and I will share with you my thoughts and feelings too if that seems appropriate and will help the dialogue between us.
I work with adults and young people in long or short-term counselling. This can be face to face, by telephone, or online by video call (e.g. Whatsapp and Zoom).
I also work with couples. I integrate aspects of other approaches to counselling into my practice that I have gained through my continued professional development. I then use these as appropriate to each individual client’s needs.
With several years’ experience in coaching I am able use this approach to my work if that feels more appropriate.
